2024 Republic Services Mint 400 Desert Clean-Up presented by Sylvania Off Road Brings Off-Road Community Together

In one of the biggest off-road cleanup initiatives of the year, hundreds of volunteers descended upon the Jean, Nevada OHV area on Saturday for the 2024 Republic Services Mint 400 Desert Clean-Up presented by Sylvania Off-Road. The Mint 400 Desert Clean-Up marks the first major event of the 2024 BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400, which will run from March 6-10. When all was said and done, this year’s Desert Clean-Up collected 82,840 pounds of illegally dumped waste from the area, the second-most in event history.

“The 2024 Mint 400 Desert Clean-Up was another huge success!” Said Mint 400 CEO Matt Martelli. “We can’t say thank you enough to our longtime partners at Republic Services, our new partners at Sylvania Off-Road who joined us for the first time this year, the massive group of volunteers who came out to Jean with us to help us pick up trash, and the other great companies who donated prizes to our raffle to reward them for their hard work.

“Initiatives like this are a crucial part of keeping the desert clean and open for everyone, not just those of us in the off-road world, but they help us set the stage for some epic racing, too. We hope to see everybody back in two weeks for the 2024 BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400. For everybody else who’s joining us, please respect all the hard work these volunteers did and keep our OHV areas clean. Remember, don’t trash the desert!”

2024 marks the eighth consecutive year of the Mint 400 Desert Clean-Up. Coming into this year’s event, over 375,000 pounds of trash—nearly 188 tons—had been collected, with the 2024 totals pushing the event well over the 200-ton mark in its history. The Mint 400 Desert Clean-Up has been so impactful in the community that it has inspired additional Desert Clean-Up events at the Parker 400 and California 300, the other two events on the UNLTD Off-Road Racing schedule.

Professional racers like BJ Baldwin and Wes Miller were among those who took time to help clean up trash before hitting the race course in two weeks’ time. In addition, to reward the volunteers for their hard work, every attendee was once again entered into a raffle that included thousands of dollars worth of donated prizes from the top companies in the sport.
