Jimco Returns to Top of SCORE Podium With San Felipe 250 Victory

Jimco Racing kicked off the 2022 SCORE World Desert Championship on a high note with a Class 1 victory in last weekend’s San Felipe 250. The Wilson Motorsports duo of Kyle Quinn and Ronny Wilson teamed up to conquer the 277-mile loop in 5:21:15, posting an average speed of 51.74 miles per hour, in their #138 Jimco Hammerhead.

“Kyle did a great job and gave us the car in second place,” Ronny Wilson told SCORE officials at the finish line. “We had to replace an alternator and dropped to fourth, but just drove the wheels off of it. The course SCORE has put together was incredibly rough. I’ve done a lot of these SCORE San Felipe 250s and this was the roughest I’ve ever done, it was really good. The car worked great, we got no flats. The last 35 miles were so hard.”

Only four of the 10 Class 1 entries in San Felipe were able to complete the challenging race, with Jimco responsible for three of them. Brad Wilson and Justin Munyon teamed up to take the #153 Wilson Motorsports entry to the final podium spot, while the trio of Rob Archibald, Charlie Townsley, and Anthony West completed the finishers in fourth.

“It was definitely a day in which we needed a lot of perseverance,” Brad Wilson added after finishing the race. “Our team worked their butts off to fix this car from the multiple issues we had, they were huge. Every time we thought we had it going, we had another issue. We made it here to finish and to be the podium after being down for a few hours, it’s just insane. We got a great start position for the SCORE Baja 500 and that’s one of the most important things. My dad won the class with Kyle Quinn, and to go back home with first and third, we’re ecstatic.”

The season-opening win marked the third consecutive Class 1 triumph for Jimco in SCORE competition. Last September, Cody Parkhouse won the 2nd SCORE Baja 400 on the way to a successful championship defense. In November, Brad Wilson closed out last year with a Baja 1000 victory for Wilson Motorsports, with Parkhouse completing a Jimco 1-2.

The 2022 SCORE World Desert Championship continues on June 1-5 with the 54th running of the SCORE Baja 500.
