King Shocks’ Alan Ampudia Goes Back-to-Back at SCORE San Felipe 250
Defending SCORE Trophy Truck champion and King Shocks athlete Alan Ampudia took the overall victory in Saturday’s 38th King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250, the opening round of the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship. Ampudia completed the 250.06-mile course in 3:55:13, taking the checkered flag in the opener for the second year in a row. He also claimed a $10,000 bonus for scoring the overall win on King Shocks, the Official Shock of SCORE, which served as title sponsor of the opening round for the fourth consecutive year.

For Ampudia, the victory reasserts him and his King Shocks-equipped Trophy Truck as the combo to beat for this year’s title. Last year, the pairing dominated the championship with podium finishes in the Baja 400 and Baja 1000 to go along with their San Felipe victory, taking the title over fellow King-backed racer Tavo Vildosola.

Joining Ampudia with overall victories in the highest-powered classes were Gustavo Vildosola Sr. in Trophy Truck Legends and Adam Pfankuch in Class 1. Vildosola Sr., who also served as Grand Marshal for the event, took his 13th consecutive victory in the Legends class by nearly half an hour over his closest competition. Pfankuch even surpassed that result in Class 1 with nearly a 40-minute advantage. Rounding out the standout performances among the top classes was Justin Davis, who earned a runner-up finish in Trophy Truck Spec.

But King Shocks’ list of hardware didn’t stop at the highest-powered classes. In Class 5 Unlimited, Eli Yee took the victory by more than nine minutes over his closest competition, winning the season opener for the third year in a row and extending what is now a five-race podium streak. In addition, Dan Chamlee dominated a strong Class 7 field, winning by more than 50 minutes to take his third class victory in the past four SCORE events.

“We couldn’t be happier about having our own Alan Ampudia take the win in the King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250 for the second straight year,” said King Shocks president Brett King. “We love sponsoring this event because of the challenges racers face to sprint to the finish line, and taking home not only the overall win, but also so many other class victories, validates the strength of our products and our racers. Congratulations to all the King-backed winners on their success, and we can’t wait to add more trophies at the Baja 500 in June!”
