This Week In AMSOIL Champ Off-Road: Dirt City Preview
About Dirt City:The Dirt City Motorplex is a motorsports facility located in Northeastern Wisconsin, approximately 30 miles north of Green Bay. In the small town of Lena, a group of local racers, business owners and motorsport enthusiasts came together to form the Lena Motorsports Club. The club, along with generous community support, built the venue from the ground up in 2019.
The property features a one-mile long, short-course off-road track, camping areas, and a natural viewing area for thousands of spectators. The venue also features ideal onsite amenities including a restaurant, fuel & LP station, race fuel and an auto parts store.
AMSOIL Championship Off-Road is going short track racing with its return to Dirt City Motorplex in Lena, WI for rounds 8 and 9 for the Dirt City Off-Road National this Saturday and Sunday. Opening it's gates in 2019, the course features the best elements of other crown jewel off-road venues and is sure to provide even more memorable moments this time around as the championship battles intensify.
Pro Truck Storylines: PRO4
Adrian Cenni has won not one, but two PRO4 races this season. With an all-new truck for 2024, the Wildman has reestablished himself as a regular podium contender and race winner. He scored a win at Dirt City during the season opener back in May.
Jimmy Henderson and the #44 team seem to be finding their footing with their new truck which was debuted at Antigo last month. Henderson has been the fastest qualifier in two of the three qualifying sessions that have been held. The eye test and stopwatch say that his speed has been right up there with the race winners. Don't be surprised to see Henderson back on the top-step in the near future. He is a proven winner at Dirt City.
PRO2
No PRO2 driver has more wins at Dirt City than Mickey Thomas with four, including the first PRO2 win of his career in 2020.
Ryan Beat accomplished the unthinkable earlier this month at ERX. With multiple injuries including a broken collarbone and pelvis, Beat persisted to earn a 2-1 on the weekend. The former professional Motocross and Supercross racer was injured while riding moto before the event. The herculean effort ultimately resulted in Beat recapturing the points lead over Mickey Thomas (-6).
Kyle Greaves earned his first PRO2 victory at Antigo earlier this season in the Kyle LeDuc memorial race while facing off against PRO4's. Even more recently, he earned the first points-paying PRO2 race of his career at ERX. It was no coincidence that Greaves accomplished this very feat at the same venue where he earned his first Pro Lite win back in 2020. Kyle Greaves tends to trend in Elk River.
2023 Champion Cory Winner is running a partial 2024 campaign. When asked about the significance of including Lena on his 2024 schedule, he noted how special this track is to he and his team. Not only has he won at this track, but it is located near his race shop.
Pro SxS and Buggy Storylines: AMSOIL Pro SxS
On the move is CJ Greaves who jumped up to third in the championship standings in recent weeks. Fans have come to expect lively battles between CJ, Andrew Carlson, The VanEperens, Kyle Chaney and Jeb Bootle this season. One thing is for certain: Don't sleep on the AMSOIL Pro SxS class.
Speaking of Kyle Chaney. He was one of our winners at Mayhem at the Motorplex.
Pro Buggy
Look out, Lena. There is a new points leader in town. Jordan Bernloehr and his consistent finishes have earned him the honor of high point man entering Round 8.
Lorenzo Bonacci was on a roll prior to ERX where was absent from the podium both days. Between engine trouble and a black flag, Lorenzo will look to rebound this weekend.
