Professional off-road short course racing was back in action with the Dirt City Off-Road Nationals and Rounds 8 and 9 of the 2024 Championship Off-Road series. The Dirt City Motorplex in Lena, Wisconsin, played host for the second time this season. During the opening rounds, Trey Gibbs scored a big win on his birthday back at the Motorplex. Trey doubled up this last weekend, dominating the Pro Lite Class by sweeping both races. Gibbs' race record for the season now stands at seven wins and two podium finishes during the nine races held this year.

Trey Gibbs continued his impressive run this season by securing his sixth win in Round 8, increasing his lead in the Pro Lite standings. The tight track at Dirt City Motorplex permitted fierce battles, which was the case for the Pro Lites on Saturday. Gibbs was able to jump out front on the opening lap. Johnny Holtger applied constant pressure in the race's first half with a few back-and-forth passing events. On the restart, Gibbs pulled away from the pack with a 10-second lead and held it for the remaining laps until the checkered flag finish line.

Trey secured the win and expressed satisfaction with the result. "Qualifying was a little bit off, and today, even though we got the win, it wasn't the best we could do. We have more work to do this weekend!" said Trey.

If Round 8 was exciting, Sunday's Round 9 was downright wild, with a thrilling contest that saw Trey Gibbs earn his seventh win of the season. The race began with Gibbs starting on the outside of the second row. Trey quickly engaged in a heated door-to-door battle between front-pack racers and even several instances of contact between them.

Gibbs navigated through the chaos as the race progressed and set his sights on the race leader, Holtger, who was locked into 1st place up to the mid-race caution. After a tense and aggressive chase, Gibbs managed to overtake Holtger with three laps remaining despite his truck shedding its fiberglass body. The two drivers remained close, but Gibbs maintained his lead to secure his third consecutive victory and seventh on the season.

"That was one of the most fun and entertaining races I've been in to date," Gibbs said on top of the podium. "Hats off to this guy (Holtger). He drove a hell of a race, and I had to work for it. I hope we put on a good show for the fans."

Gibbs continued, "I'm the first CHAMP Off-Road pro driver to have a sweep weekend racing at Dirt City Motorplex. Thank you to the TGR team. Everyone has worked their butts off to get the Pro Lite ready for battle. I wouldn't be here without them. I want to recognize Maxxis Tires, STEEL-IT Coatings, See Devil Lights, Impact Safety, Vision Wheels, VP Racing Fuels, Liqui Moly Howe Performance and our new partner OPTIMA for all of their support."
