Trey Gibbs Scores CHAMP Round 5 Victory At Crandon, Makes Fourth Win In A Row
Round 5 of the Championship Off-Road 2024 series occurred at the iconic Crandon International Raceway in Crandon, Wisconsin. The annual Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run event also brought loads of wet weather to the “Big House,” forcing the cancellation of all practice and qualifying sessions. Race officials ultimately hosted only one round of racing, which took place on Sunday. Trey Gibbs leaned on his track experience, previous successes, and his notes to formulate a clean run and another win. This latest victory makes it four straight wins for Gibbs, who has led the Pro Lite division points all season.
With the weekend marred by relentless rain on Friday and Saturday, race officials were reluctant to make rash decisions. They were debating the cancellation of Saturday’s competitions up until the point of making the call. It came down to unsafe conditions. With limited track time and no practice or qualifying sessions, competitors faced another challenge heading into Sunday’s race.
As the skies cleared on Sunday, the Crandon track transformed into a battleground for the Pro Lite class. Trey Gibbs, starting from the land rush, swiftly maneuvered into second place. Demonstrating remarkable control and speed, he seized the lead early in the first lap and maintained a dominant position throughout the race. Gibbs’ flawless performance and strategic racing allowed him to cross the finish line unchallenged, marking his fourth consecutive win of the season.
“It never gets easy out there,” Gibbs, a six-time off-road racing champion, remarked. Four in a row – it’s an incredible feeling, and I have not done it in a long time. Coming into the race with no practice time was tough, but we made the best of our previous setup notes, which paid off. The track conditions were perfect by race time, and I could make quick work of the competition. It feels awesome to be doing that against these guys up here. They are all tremendous drivers. Huge thanks to my crew and partners for their unwavering support. Let’s keep this streak going!”
With four consecutive victories, Trey Gibbs continues to dominate the Pro Lite class with a substantial points lead, solidifying his position as the driver to beat this season. The Championship Off-Road series will continue challenging competitors with its demanding tracks, and fans eagerly anticipate whether Gibbs can extend his winning streak in the upcoming rounds.
